Professional golfers have adopted Pilates as part of their training faster and in greater numbers than any other athletes.
This is largely due to the similarities across each discipline. Both require a great deal of focus, stability and core strength. Golf requires the athlete to repeatedly swing with precision and effectiveness without distraction from external factors (e.g. weather or course layout). The swing is controlled from the centre of the body, The Core, and as such strength and flexibility here can make a huge difference in the players’ capabilities.
Pilates provides the golfer with increased body awareness, trunk rotation and stability leading to a more balanced and powerful swing.
